Hello! I want to talk to other people about this before contacting support. I play minecraft on mobile and my xbox account is connected to my phone and my computer. I got an invite to realms and tapped accept, and I had issues with privacy and the state
of my profile, apparently, so I could not. I looked around and ended up going down a rabbit hole, I found out my xbox account is a child account when my microsoft account says my birthdate correctly, and my region is correct. I'm unable to go to my xbox privacy
and online settings, either, and apparently that's also linked to the child account.

Someone said something about microsoft family, so I looked into it. I'm not apart of one. I never was apart of one. There's no way that I'm apart of one at all because I'm the only one in my household who has interest in xbox and microsoft and I set up everything
all by myself. I made this account when I was 15 but never linked it to an xbox account until I was 17.

I only ever logged my account into my friend's xbox a few months ago, but I'm not sure if that affects my account in any way. If it does, please let me know, but none of my friends who are also on that xbox don't have any issues.

    :)

Can't allow an exception for a game on a child account.

I'm wondering if there's something that tells Live that the account is a child other than just being listed as a child account in a family? When not in the family under my account, the child account seems to have full privilege to set it it's own family,
set content restrictions, etc. The DOB is set so the child is clearly under 18. Is there something else that the child account could be missing?

Xbox won't update videos on dashboard

So I'm noticing a lot of child-appropriate content there. Is this account a Child Account, or a Secondary Account on a Family Plan? If you were on a child account but are now 18, you can promote the child account to an adult account (support.xbox.com/.../online-safety)

Why can’t I use the custom gamerpic option?

There is two ways that MS sees an account as a child account.

    1. The DOB when the account was originally setup. (which is set in stone and can not be changed) If the DOB is under 18 it will ALWAYS have to be in a family as a child account till it reaches its 18th birthday.

    2. If the account is in a family as a child account. (even if the DOB is over 18 if it is still in a family as a child MS will see it as a child)

    With that being said

When you say it was set as an adult account since then do you mean in the privacy settings on your xbox?

This is not going to change it to an adult account. even if the DOB is over 18

So if the DOB is over 18 this is what you need to do.

Sign in at account.microsoft.com/family with the parent account and remove yourself from the family this will then put you into your own family as an adult.

Keep in mind if you do this and the DOB when your account was originally setup is still under 18 you will NOT be ABLE to do ANYTHING on your account till you are added to an account as a child account.
In the family, my account is certainly set as an adult. And my DOB was not changed in the privacy settings. I’m talking about the DOB at account.Microsoft.com.

Change of child account to adult account

If the date of birth on the child account when it was originally set up has reached the age of 18 then you would have to sign in with the parental account at account.microsoft.com/family and remove the child from the family. and that would put the child
into its own family as an adult. if you remove the child from the current family and its date of birth when the account was originally setup has not reached 18 it will not allow the account to be signed in until it is put into a new family as a child.
