AS with any form of internet, there is a chance of hackers. They are located everywhere and anywhere. As stated above multiple times. You would be best to update your information. There are more security protocols you can set in place for example two step
verification. Here is a guide for turning off two step. Just follow guide and turn it on if you would like this option. Important note "if you decide to change phone number make sure to turn off two step before you do". Also, check the

Even if they hacked your account, it doesn't mean they have your bank information; I would keep an eye on your bank movements to check if there's anything suspicious and in case contact your bank.

At most they will have their card number, but password will log in and log in to your account no more, as Microsoft said they will no longer log in, do you usually buy products only at authorized and official stores?
