my Xbox 360 wont connect to the internet at all

When I run the test I am able to get connected to my local network but not to the internet.

The laptop I am on right now IS connected to that same network via wireless and my desktop is also connected right now via Cat5.

Only one Xbox 360. But I also have 2 desktops, a laptop, and several mobile devices

Xbox is wired. Desktops are wired. Laptop and all mobile devices are wireless

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter?

I cannot connect my xbox360 to the internet via wireless or wired ??????!!!!!

Im trying to connect my daughters xbox 360 to the internet and it will not connect at all

so I put add the wireless name on our internet connection then put in the password and it still wont connect what am I doing wrong or am I missing a cord? Im totally lost

any advice would help !

My xbox 360 slim connects to the internet and everything but wont connect to live. why is that?

 

Are the settings (ip adress, subnet mask etc) set on automatic in your xbox 360?

 

Yes, IP and Subnet is set to Automatic.

 

Ok then..Please try this: Set your xbox manually on a static ip adress (just change the ip and leave the rest the same) and then go in your router and set the same ip address for your xbox. Also if you haven't done this already port forward the ports for
xbox on your router.

I did make the changes to my router following these instructions:
portforward.com/.../Xbox_Live_360.htm

And I set the static ip on the xbox.

The test failed still. Connecting to the local network but not to the internet.

Please advise.

 

Well the only other thing I can think of is that your ethernet port must be faulty.. If it's possible borrow an xbox 360 console from a friend and try to connect via cable so that we can rule out that it's not a hardware problem.

Also what ip adress did you use?

 

What can you do if the ethernet port is faulty?

 

You could find an electronics store that repairs consoles and take it there (that is if it's not on warranty) if it is in warranty you could send it to microsoft.. but you have to make sure that that is the case. So if you know someone with an xbox 360 borrow
it and see if it connects via ethernet.
