    New Xbox 360 E heats up very fast

    I recently got an Xbox 360 E model as an early Christmas present. After about 5 minutes of playing through the Titanfall tutorial, the top panel (I keep my 360 horizontal) was HOT. I could smell something strange inside it and I can feel some air emit from
    it. I turned it off, waits awhile, and sure enough it began to get progressively warmer (I was on the dashboard). This is very worrying, and this is a new console.

    Xbox disconnecting every 5-10 minutes!

    Ok as of yesterday around 8.00 P.M my Xbox 360 S was disconnecting every 5-10 minutes, I reset my modem and router but it was still happening, this connection is wireless by the way. I waited for a friend to arrive to test his profile on my other Xbox 360
    (wired) nothing happened. He tested his profile on my Xbox and he was booted of after 5 minutes. I then tried to reset the network settings on my Xbox 360 S and it was working fine again but then the other Xbox is now logging anyone off every 5-10 minutes!
    Every time I reset the modem I can get it to swap between the Xbox consoles.

    I have never had this problem in over 14 months until now, why is this happening all of a sudden and is anyone having this problem right now?

    Summary: -

    - Xbox 360 (1) disconnecting every 5 minutes

    - Xbox 360 (2) stays connected

    - Reset modem /network settings

    - Xbox 360 (1) stays connected

    - Xbox 360 (2) disconnecting every 5 minutes

    (and so on)

    Any help right now would hopefully get rid of some of this stress, thanks.

    it is quiet normal for the console to get warm on top when in use however you need to ensure you have adequate ventilation for both the console and power supply please see below for information on this.

    My 360 slim runs quite hot too, inevitably all the hype about it being quieter and cooler was the usual BS. I have had it for several years now, it seems fine. I don't run it longer than 2 hours and it is kept on a ventilated rack
    / glass shelf.

    is it normal, that the Slim is being so damn hot at the top (near the ventilation) ??

    Xbox Slim: More heat than usual?

    The 360 S isn't "drawing more heat" off anything. The exhaust port is about half an inch from the top of the heatsink. Ths is versus several inches on the original console. The exhaust temperature is 20-35F greater on the 360 S than on the original 360.

    Think of it this way - you have a hairdryer. You put your hand about half an inch away from the end where the hot air comes out. It's very hot. You put your hand three inches away. It isn't as hot. The longer the distance the hot air has to travel, the more
    heat it disappates along the way.

    And the new one is still the 360 S. Go check the

    Xbox one S - randomly shuts off during game play

    That is also something I thought might be a problem. But I have added an external fan and the xbox is sitting on top of a shelf and not next to any other objects that might make it warm. The xbox does not feel hot to the touch when it shuts off and it will
    shut off after 5 minutes of play even after it has been sitting all day.

    Are there other ways that I can ensure that the xbox is not getting too hot?
