My xbox 360 S Console won't recognize/sync with any controller

I've owned my Xbox for a little over a year. It's had no problems since I bought it. I stopped using it last month because I was really busy. My brother turned it on one day to see that the controller wouldn't connect to the console. I told him to see if
switching the places of the batteries would work. It did, but only for a minute. When the controller turns on, the Xbox turns on, but does not recognize that controller after that. Yesterday, we decided to buy a new controller, which also did not connect.
I tried the sync buttons on both controllers, and the one on the Xbox, and they didn't work. So it must be a problem with the Xbox. Or not?

I also have a disc inside of the Xbox. The touch sensitive buttons are not responding, so the only way I can get it out is through the controller. And yes, I have tried cleaning the buttons with a dry towel.

Xbox 360 controller will turn on xbox but won't "connect"

My controller will turn on the xbox 360 by pressing the button on the controller. But once the xbox has booted up, lights flash but the two won't sync. I've tried the sync buttons on both the xbox and controller in every conceivable combination but the
two won't recognize. When synch buttons are pressed the two devices will have rotating lights and then they seem to "recognize" but they don't. Once the xbox is on the controller has no effect on it. This does the same thing whether the usb cable is connected
or not.

No sync lights at all

I have an Xbox 360 S that's only a few months old and it won't turn on any green sync lights around the power button. I'm trying to sync a controller but when I press the sync button there's no sign at all of anything happening and the controller doesn't
sync.

When I press the Xbox's sync button, it searches and then if I press the remote's sync button, the xbox and the remote stop searching. This must mean that they're connected. But they're not?

my fault its the XBOX ONE S if thats makes any difference.

If i ll reset the controller and not sync it as you mention, the wifi of the controller will still be on searching to connect on the console?

Before the latest dashboard update, there was a simple way to defrag the hard disk: by turning on the console with the controller, and holding RB, RT and Y (soon after the controller is recognized during the intro logo).

Doing so, the console would restart before the dashboard appeared on screen, and the Hard Disk is defragged.

Now this method doesn't work anymore:

if you turn on the console with the controller, the Xbox 360 won't recognize the controller until the dashboard is fully loaded. The problem is that, since the console recognizes the controller so late, you can't do the defrag anymore.

I didn't find any other way to defrag the hard disk.

You don't need any leads. The controllers all sync individually like I said. The port on the back of the drums is for your Mic, if you want to use it for party chat and what not. The other port(s) are for the cymbals. Press the sync and Xbox buttons on the
drum controller to sync to your console like any other wireless controller.
