Well, I'm kinda new to the Xbox System. Recently purchased it about 10 months ago. What happened was, I decided to play GTA V on my Xbox 360 E console, plugged it in a wall outlet, for some reason, the wall outlet sparked and now, when I turn on the console
when an AV Cable or HDMI Cable is connected to it, the Red Dot of Death with a blank screen and an orange light on the power brick shows. However, when I plug the console on the same wall outlet without an AV Cable or HDMI Cable , the console and the power
brick lit pure solid green. I don't know what to do. Please help! Thanks. -Chris

Red dot on power button - only when HDMI connected

Hi, have seen similar issues but not exact one, apologies if I have missed it.

Got new HDTV

Got existing Xbox 360 250GB

Removed AV connector (all works ok with that) and attached HDMI cables - Xbox has red dot on power and cannot do anything else.

Have tried different HDMI port - no difference

Have powered everything off, removed all cables and started again. Xbox power up with HDMI cable in but red light resumes the second the other end is attached to TV.

Cannot get into HDTV settings on Xbox with the AV connector as greyed out.

Please help!

Sorry to hear it. It sounds like an electrical charge blew the system out and you should send it in for repair. If you purchased the console 10 months ago and it was brand new you should still be covered under warranty.

Have all the lights turned red, if so, then it is just an issue with the video signal, try changing your video cable (hdmi or composite av cable)and see if that does the trick.

If it is just 3 red lights or red dot (If Xbox 360 S or E), then that is a general hardware failure, which usually means the console will no longer work, and no way to fix.

My guess is that the cable or port is damaged making the light go red instead of green. I remember on the original Xbox 360, 4 red rings meant the AV or HDMI cable wasn't connected properly.

I understand you need help on connecting AV cables to your console.

Just a heads up, the AV cables are only for older models of the Xbox console like the original Xbox systems. The Xbox 360 e does not have that ports anymore as it only uses HDMI cables.

I would suggest buying any HDMI cable, that would definitely work on your Xbox 360 e console.

You might want to stick with the Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable or Xbox 360 Composite AV Cable if that`s working for you at the moment. I`m not sure, It might be the Xbox 360 HDMI Cable that has been damaged, There`s no way of really knowing until you replace
it with another Xbox 360 HDMI Cable to check if the original one you have has been faulty,
