My xbox 1S cuts off in the middle of me planet

When did this issue start to occur? Does it happen to any of your games? What steps have you tried so far?

To confirm, how does your Xbox getting cut off, like it goes back to your dashboard?

I suggest that you first perform a power cycle. Press and hold the Xbox power button for 10 sec until it turns off. Unplug the power supply for 30 sec. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

Be sure to also check your network connection. Sometimes, your network connection may cause game's issue.
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
Select Test network connection.

Other option to try is to clear your game's local saves:
Eject the disc from your console if there's one inserted.
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage devices.
Select Clear local saved games.
Note: Selecting this option will not delete any games or progress you have saved in the Xbox cloud. It will only clear data you have saved locally.
Select Yes to confirm.
Once your console restarts, try installing the game again.

If the above solutions don't work, I recommend that you perform a factory reset to remove potentially corrupted data on your console. There's an option to keep your games and apps.
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.

Same here, mine cut off in the middle of a movie I was watching on Netflix. I've reset my modem and router a few times, the connection test runs fine but it still will not let me connect to XBL.

No, it is not normal for your Xbox to turn itself on in the middle of the night. And for the cutting off during an update sometimes the Xbox needs to restart during an update so that is normal, but if it is turning off and not restarting during an update
that is not normal.

xbox 1s ui looks more like for middle aged peeps or business peeps who like a whole lot of squares lol.

Yeah, the old "bird" used to be two fingers, not just the middle one (until after the other was cut off.)
