My xbox 1 keeps trying to randomly intake no existent discs

So i got my xbox 1 second hand off of my brother and he has never had this problem. but as soon as i set the xbox up in my room with my monitor the xbox keeps randomly making a whirring
noise even when it is turned off. when it makes the noise and it is turned off, it turns the xbox on. it does not annoy my gameplay but it isnt a nice noise. when i am done on my xbox i have to unplug it otherwise it will turn itself on again.

does anyone know why this happens and how do i fix it?

Other than calling Xbox support to get a solution to your problem, which would be the best thing to do. Have you tried using compressed air to spray out the tray slot as well as all vents just to make sure you don't have a dead bug or some other debris
that maybe interfering with the tray sensor. I'm sure someone will have a much more detailed and well informed answer for you, but wouldn't hurt to try. Calling Xbox support would be my go to.

Try performing a hard reset by pressing the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts off completely. Then unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.

These issues are usually due to dust getting in the intake vents blocking most of the airflow, which causes the xbox to try to pull more air in to keep it cool. That is probably why it is making a lot of noise.

ElectroFlying

Mine will eject the disc and as long as I dont touch it it will set there. If I go to complety remove it, no problem. Its when I go to put a disc in where I run into troube.

Keep your finger out of the hole in the disc 4 these Optical drives have some intake power and if your finger isnt quick, will put a hurting on ya.
