Thanks for posting! Fortnite Battle Royale is (F2P or FtP) 'free-to-play' on all platforms including XboxOne, but as will any online multiplayer console game it requires an XboxLiveGold membership to play online with friends. This has always been true for
most online content and as with other F2P games, Fortnite generates revenue through micros-transactions in the store where you go to purchase fun items like skins and emotes. That revenue helps keep the game free-to-play, but that goes to the publisher, Epic
Games and does not support Xbox directly.

When you choose play on and Xbox console, your XboxLiveGold membership pays for the servers that allow for multiplayer matchmaking benefiting you and the community at large who enjoy gaming with friends, etc. On PS4 you need PlayStation Plus to play online
as well.

The only content that is not free-to-play is Save The World the PvE portion of the game.

Thank you for bringing this up to our attention. After careful review it looks like Fortnite should be free on all Platforms including Xbox One. Now the portion of the game that is
not free on any console is going to be "Save the World".

Now Unfortunately if this is in regards to the fact that you need a Xbox Live Gold subscription to join the game on the Xbox One console.

I don't think that will happen. Prices are set by the developers, not Microsoft. However, in the meantime you should check out either Xbox Games Pass or EA Access. Both offer a great selection of games that you can download and play with one low monthly
subscription fee.

 

These are set as for the developers to get paid to support their families.

Just think of it this way, you working your whole life towards something and give it away for free
