My Wireless XBOX 360 Controller won't connect to my PC (Wireless Reciever)

I have downloaded the required driver and installed it. Xbox 360 Controller for Windows | Nedladdningar av enhet | Microsoft Accessories

When I plug in my Wireless Receiver into my 2.0 USB port, a notification on my PC pops up and says: "Device driver software was not successfully installed"

I've watched many Videos on YouTube and also visited forums to find a solution to that issue.

Solution:

Open Device Manager

Right-Click the Unknown Device

Click the Update Driver Software

--> Browse My Computer For Driver Software

--> Let Me Pick From A List Of Device Drivers On My Computer

Click on Microsoft Common Controller For Windows Class

Choose the right Driver that you need

--> I only have one option to choose, which says: "XBOX 360 Controller for Windows"

When I watch videos on YouTube, they say that you should pick the Driver that says: "XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver For Windows Version: ... (Start From 2:33)

When I choose and install the only option there is for me ( "XBOX 360 Controller for Windows" ) it says: "Windows Have Successfully Updated Your Driver Software".

When I try to Connect my XBOX 360 Controller to my PC then... (Pressing the button on my Wireless Receiver and the Small Button which is located at the Front of the XBOX 360 Controller) ... my XBOX 360 Controller's Home Button keeps blinking. If it would
have been successfully connected, the blinking would have stopped and a light on the Home Button should be alight, which indicates which player it is.

My Wireless Reciever has worked before and I've played many games using my XBOX 360 Controller, but this issue occurred after I reinstalled my Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.

How can I solve my issue?

You don't need to plug the reciever from the set into your Xbox 360 console (in fact the reciever wouldn't work on the console).

Instead, simply bind the controller itself to your console directly, as per
the instructions that Taidara linked.

Only the PC will need the wireless reciever.

If you wish to use the controller on the PC again, you'll have to bind the controller with the wireless reciever on your PC again, by pressing the button on the wireless reciever, and the bind button on the controller.

The wireless receiver you purchased from eBay is not a genuine Microsoft product.



The ones made by Microsoft do not come with a mini driver disc or plainly say "PC Wireless Gaming Receiver" on the underside. Genuine Microsoft adapters are normally plug-and-play (from Windows 7), and the drivers are automatically
downloaded/installed as soon as you plug it in.

There is an online article that shows you
how to set up knock-off adapters in particular, but these steps are not guaranteed to work. Otherwise, I suggest returning this adapter for a refund.
