    My whole xbox is running incredibly slow


    Hey everyone! So, my xbox one s has been really laggy and I don't know what to do. I've had it for 4 years now, but in the past 3-5 months, its been running very slowly. Side menu takes ages to show up, my games always lag and crash, my xbox takes a good 5-10 minutes just to start up and at times I can't even do anything with my controller so i have to manually shut down the xbox and restart it. I'm getting desperate here. I've tried removing the power cable for 10 minutes and plugging it back in, restarted the xbox countless times and i even factory reset my xbox(kept my games). The factory reset made my xbox run smoothly for a day and then it went back to how it was. Also worth noting that my xbox is pretty silent which i dont know if its normal. So is there something i can change or do i need to buy another xbox

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    Seems like you have performed all the necessary steps, Alex, and in this case, we may need to reset the console removing everything, this will uninstall all of your games and apps but you can reinstall them later on.

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    Try the following to see if it fixes the issue;

    - Press the Guide button  on your controller, select Settings, and select System Settings.

    - Select Network Settings.

    - Select the name of your wireless network when the network list is displayed.

    - Select Configure Network.

    - On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults.

    If that doesn't help, you might want to try to reset the console;

    - Press the Guide button  to open the guide.

    - Select Settings > System Settings.

    - On the System Settings screen, select Console Settings > System Info.

    - Write down your console serial number (you’ll need to enter it later) and then press the B button.

    - Select Storage.

    - On the Storage Devices screen, select Hard Drive and press the Y button to access Device Options.

    - On the Device Options screen, select Format.

    - On the Format Device screen, you’ll see the following message. Select Yes.

    This will remove all content on this device. Do you want to continue?

    - On the Format Hard Drive screen, select Enter Serial Number and then enter the number on the next screen.

    - Press the Start button. You’ll see a Formatting in progress message with a progress bar. After the process is complete, you’ll be returned to the Home screen.

    If that doesn't help, then you might want to perform an offline update on the console to refresh the OS.

    hey there iateaturtle, sorry to hear about your new download issue with trine 2. could be a few different things

    check your hard drive, test your xbox connection, powercycle your home network, or put trine 2 into your download queue from xbox.com

    hang in there and do what you can for troubleshooting

    Downloading is INCREDIBLY SLOW

    I'm sorry you are having problems downloading from LIVE, but there are current problems with the network at the moment. I was able to download a 700MB demo in just under two minutes - although I do have a 60Mb/s line.

    It's likely the service you pay for is 'upto 2Mb/s' which means the speed you actually get can vary.

    How long have you had this issue?

    Does your ISP throttle your connection if you download a certain amount of data? Are there any caps on your connection?

    Are they are other computers or consoles on your network that are on-line at the same time?

    Have you contacted your ISP regarding your slow download speed?

    With regards to port forwarding and such, there is no need to fiddle about with this. Regardless of your NAT type or ports you have open/closed, your speed will not be effected.
