my western digital my passport external hard drive is not working after a year with no problems it just is not being listed on my xbox including all games that have been downloaded on it yet it is still vibrating??

External hard drive no longer loading games.

I have a problem with my external hard drive not being able to load games recently. Games on my internal hard drive load up with no problem. I think the recent preview program update might be responsible for this, but I'm not sure. The hard drive itself
is fine, as well as the cord. I have had this hard drive for two years and never had a problem with it until now. The hard drive in question is a 2TB Seagate hard drive. Any help is appreciated.

I have a 250 WD external hard drive that works just fine with my Xbox 360 MW3 edition. I never had to load or download anything to get it to work. Maybe certain brands work and some don't. I know that a Toshiba 1TB does NOT work.

Hi Jiza1981, you can generally buy cheap cables over eBay.

Kotaku did a great post some time ago regarding drives that will work seamlessly with the Xbox One. I've yet to get a hard drive for my Xbox One but I'm almost out of room (Microsoft just love giving me games!

) so it's time to get one I think!

Anyway, without linking anyone to anything external to this website, Kotaku recommended the following external hard drives;

1TB HGST Touro S 7200rpm Portable External Hard Drive

WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive Storage USB 3.0 Black

WD My Book 4 TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive with Backup

I've never used that Touro brand so I can't comment on them but I've had good experiences with Western Digital and their external hard drive range. Nice and sturdy units!

External hard drive is definitely the way to go . I bought WD Mypassport x for my Xbox one and I had no issue . I have about 40 games installed and plenty of room left .

I moved my games from the internal hard drive to the external hard drive to see if my games won't kick me to the dashboard I tried it yesterday with a external hard drive I had never used for my Xbox. My games were never on the external hard drive they
were in the internal hard drive. Also I downloaded trove and it kicks me to the dashboard as well.

OMG this fixed it! I feel like an idiot for not trying this last night, or previously.

Yes I have 3 external drives hooked up to my X, a WD My Book, and two WD portable external drives using a USB hub. I previously had one of those portable drives and it wasn't causing problems, so I assumed that having two on top of my console, because of
where I have it wasn't going to be an issue. Apparently not. I moved the drives off to the side and instantly my Xbox picked up my wifi signal, connected to my 5 GHz band, and I have full bandwidth on it. I never knew this was an issue but now I can pass
this along as a friend is also having the same issue. Maybe this will work for them as well as they also have external drives and a wifi disconnect issue.
