My warranty started before I bought my console?

Just registered my console last night and tried to get my extended warranty, sadly it wouldn't work.

I've now noticed my warranty started on the 15th of January, I purchased the console (directly from Amazon) on the 4th of March 2015. So essentially I can't get my extended warranty because I can time travel?

    :)

Ac adapter keeps overheating on my s console

@ master Walnut, I never hooked a fan up to my system. After it started overheating 2 days ago I put my regular fan to blow cool air on it hoping it would last longer then 15 mins before shutting off my x-box. So there is no way that's what messed up my
    adapter.

@ice storm even if the warranty is a year like you say, that means my warranty expired may 15th. When I first made the thread I thought I bought the system around july/augest but I checked my receipt and i bought it may 15th of last year.

It is pretty sad that my old "halo 3" special edition x-box from 4+ years ago is still more reliable then an s-console i bought last year

  3. Disc drive issues, warranty issue, please do the right thing and help!

I bought a day one edition Xbox One on preorder the day of release. Starting a couple months ago my console started making me put the disc in 2 times or more times before it would read the game. I originally thought maybe is was something
to do with an update and maybe it would correct itself on in an update. I guess I was wrong, because now it is starting to make a grinding noise when I put a disc in. I have to put the disc in several times before it reads it. It is barley out of warranty.
But the issue started way before the warranty ran out, I just didn't realize it was a mechanical issue until now. Now the want to charge me 115 plus shipping fees. The console itself is a day one edition, and I do have an extended game stop warranty, I could
turn it in and get a new one no issues. BUT id lose the fact that it is a day one edition. Please repair my console under warranty as the problem really started under warranty. It is the right thing to do. please reply someone.

Seriously if I can time travel this is great, if this is an issue with serial numbers, not so much.

Oh boy! Over an hour on online chat trying to sort it out, not one out of three people had any clue what to do.

They transferred me, the directed me to open the same chat service to solve my issue. Is this normal now? When I had an issue with my 360 customer service were amazing, now I honestly feel like sending the damned thing back rather than deal with that nonsense
    again.

Oh and the chat log is amazing, "And unfortunately, you were transferred incorrected, twice. First was from the Windows phone, second you were handed to us instead of the Microsoft store. We are truly for the inconvenience.".

I've got many more of the same quality of brushing off.

And the agent closed the chat, star material there.

I don't know if I would go for the Chat Service in strange issues like this where it might be more helpful to talk directly to someone. You might have a better time getting the extent of the issue across to a phone rep, and I think they have a better ability
to transfer you to an escalated support rep. If you have the documentation from Amazon showing your purchase, there should be no reason why they can't get it taken care of for you. It definitely sounds like a serial number issue (i.e. possibly when someone
else bought their console, the serial number was entered wrong at the register and ended up registering YOUR console's serial, thus starting your warranty early.)

Sorry to hear you're dealing with this! Unfortunately, we can't do much here on the forums, but "I don't know what to do and I didn't transfer you correctly" are not acceptable responses, you definitely need to keep contacting them until someone gets you
    to a supervisor.

If I've time to call I will, between work and house chores it's not top of my agenda right now.

But I am sad to see how horrible the chat service is, to the extent I wonder if I should have gone with Sony this generation. Time will tell on that though.

Kind of shocking that none of them even addressed the fact my warranty was back dated. As in they 100% ignored it, to their credit they really wanted me to buy the extension so at least they're trying to sell products. Even if offering no meaningful support.

My warranty started before I bought my console?

I can say, for what it's worth, that I know of a number of people who have both systems (or switched) who indicate that the PS4 is comparable on both the issue of technical problems and that of customer support. I think everyone's experiences vary and unfortunately
some are just unfortunate to have a bad experience. I just know of a few guys who specifically mentioned their disappointment because they thought switching would be the "magic bullet," only to run into a different set of issues common to the other system.

Hang in there and keep on them, and someone will be able to solve this warranty issue for you. Aside from the support problem, as far as the quality of the system and games go, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

If I can't get a warranty from Microsoft I'll just get one from Squaretrade, bit of a hassle but I'd rather have it covered for 3 years.

I wonder why service seems to be poorer now than in years gone by. I had my RROD, they bloody sent a guy to pick it up the following day, had it back in two weeks, and included a 3 month extension and €20 voucher.

Perhaps it's a cost cutting measure? Less support so lower price tag, or better bundles?
