Kindly confirm the transaction for the Gamertag change. Sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders, from there make sure that the free gamer tag change is showing as "completed".

Then check if you're able to change your gamer tag for free on social.xbox.com

Note: Do not proceed with the gamer tag change if it asks you for a fee.

Try to sign in to account.xbox.com to see if your new gamer tag is showing on your account.

If the issue still persists, try to reach out to Microsoft Xbox Support for further assistance as they have the tools and resources to properly investigate your gamer tag change. You may contact them using the link below:

Doesn't matter that you had it for 2 years... it just took that long for someone to report it and for the enforcement team to review and change it.

Also note that if you continue to choose inappropriate gamertags, the consequences could become more severe, up to and including a permanent suspension of your account.

Can I change my username?

Users who have a Mojang account or a Microsoft account can change their username for free at www.minecraft.net/en-us/profile. Click Change next to your profile name.

If you have an older account and you sign in with your username, you need to migrate to a Mojang account before you can change your username. Minecraft support is unable to assist with changing usernames as system is set up to be self-service.

How often can I change my username?

You can change your username once every 30 days. When you change your username, your previous name is saved for 37 days. This gives you an additional week to change back if you change your mind before your previous username becomes available to anyone else.
