I recently purchased a second xbox one so I could play with my son. Unfortunately, set up gives no warning about needing separate accounts in order to do this. Consequently, we set up the new xbox following the directions and now it shares the same profile
as the old one, which is not what we wanted. If we factory reset the new xbox, will it delete my son's profile on his xbox, since they are shared? Please help! No one has been able to answer this question and we're afraid to try a factory reset on the new
xbox until someone can tell us whether it will effect the original profile! Thanks!

    :)

MY two xboxes share a profile, if I factory reset one, will it delete the account on both xboxes?

Thanks for your help! We were just worried that if we factory reset the new one, that it would erase the shared (original) profile, which would really suck! I wish that the hardware had come with some kind of paperwork or instructions for setting up your
gear for different kinds of play. Would've saved us a ton of time. Thanks again!

MY two xboxes share a profile, if I factory reset one, will it delete the account on both xboxes?

If you factory reset the console, it'll reset it so it'll be just like it was out of the box. So no profiles will be on that console. It will have no effect on the other console. So if your son has his account on both consoles, it will only be signed out
of the console you factory reset.

If you're just trying to add another profile, there's no need to factory reset the console. You can just sign out of the account that's on there and create/sign in on a different account. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/account-profile/manage-account/sign-in

My Xbox one is acting up, help?

    Hi,

A couple of things you could try, is firstly by deleting your profile from your xbox console, and the re-adding it: Add and remove
    profile

If that doesn't work then it might be worth giving you xbox a factory reset, but without deleting the games:

How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One

When you do the factory reset, its important to choose the option 'Reset and keep my games & apps.' so that way you won't lose any of your games or apps :)

Deleted adult account and now stuck as Unknown guest key

    Hello XBF/community,

I’ve since found a similar thread below where the guy had zero accounts and did not know his guest key and was advised to do a hard factory reset ie deleting all apps.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/xbox-one-all-profiles-deleted-and-cant-remember/3b35e32b-3c59-4911-b9dc-077eab907fff?auth=1

My further issue is that I have one child account and I’ve read that this reset may delete the account entirely which I want to avoid. The adult account that was removed may also be at risk.

    So my choices are:

    A) do nothing and use child account

    B) factory reset and maybe lose child account, maybe lose both ?

    C) first remove child account in the hope that both accounts are recoverable

what do you think I should do ?

    Thanks

Selling Xbox one, removing profile, games still there?

If you do a factory reset on the Xbox One your profile will be deleted from the harddrive as well as your downloaded and installed games. The games could not be used by a new profile or a new user/owner anyway because the games are bounded to your gamertag.
So for the Xbox One a factory reset would be best.

    Here's how to:
    support.xbox.com/.../reset-console-to-factory-defaults

On the Xbox 360 it's different. Here the games, only the downloaded ones of course, are bound to the console. So a new user / owner could use them with his gamertag. So on the 360 I would suggest to only delete your profile before selling it but keep the
    downloaded games on the drive.

    Here's how to:
