My TV's resolution is completely messed up after a major system update

Same problems with my app too. Better not mess with my streaks lol seems it happened after the xbox system update although the app worked after the update but then glitched out 10 mins later. Looked like the app reinstalled or updated after the system update as well. I've had problems with the top 10 achievements for 500 points before. The app hasn't bugged out this bad before. Updates seem to always mess something up🤦‍♂️

Dear OP, what could be a solution to your problem is taking a break from using your console, similar to recommend time using a computer after long periods of use you can get "motion sickness" as you put it. Now this does not seem to be the issue but it is
possible to change the Resolution settings on your TV on the xbox by going to System Settings (Press the guide button on your controller and go all the way to the right) > System Settings > Console Settings > Display > HD TV Settings. Now mess around with
this for a bit and update up on if this works. Thanks for coming to the Xbox Forums

I am having a similar issue at the moment. I usually take my xbox one s up to my neighbours at the weekend for some gaming( he has a polaroid 65" 4k uhd tv) and it used to work fine on that up until the system update a few weeks back. After the update it
would not recognize his tv anymore, the best resolution we can get out of it is 640p, the xbox wouldn't even let us change it to 1080p. at that point i had a polaroid 1080p hd set and when i would reconnect it to my tv i Could change it back to 1080p. Unfortunately
the LEDs went on that tv on Sunday and i replaced it with a Toshiba 50" 4k uhd tv and am now experiencing the same problem.

I have followed all of the steps on xbox assist to no avail and even though the xbox will recognize that my tv is fully 4k UHD compatible it will not allow me to change the resolution to anything other than 640p (not 4k, not 720p OR 1080p).

I have checked all setting on my tv, tried All the ports and tried several HDMI cables all to no effect.

I think that the latest set of firmware software updates has must have some major issues that has caused this problem but i can't seem to find a way of contacting them to enquire about this!

I have and was told that it was what they think a update gone bad after going through every trouble shooting they could come up with. However even after admitting that it was an update that they pushed that messed up my system they refuse to take
responsibility for fixing it.

They'll tell you to go to the preview program support forums no doubt, as that is the only place to go for a support agent who works on the program as far as I'm aware.

Have you tried it with an ethernet cable? Just to rule out whether its the wireless receiver causing the issues. Just something to try whilst we're waiting for your access
