    Hi Is there a way to achieve a 120Hz refresh rate on my Samsung QE50Q80CATXXU 4K TV, which is currently limited to 60Hz? Would adjusting the resolution to 1440p or employing other settings potentially enable a higher refresh rate on the TV or my xbox im just curious as apparently having 120hz makes a big difference I don't mind if I can't get 120hz I'm just curious thanks.

    xbox not allowing my tv in 120hz

    the tv does not have hdmi 2.1 so you cannot use 4k at 120hz and that tv does not use dedicated 120hz panel it uses trickery to make 60hz look like 120hz to the eye.

    It seems strange that with your current TV gives you the option to choose 120Hz when its specifications indicate it only has a 60Hz capability. It is likely an error that causes the console to detect the TV with a higher refresh rate than it actually has. In this situation, even if you can select the 120Hz option, you won't be able to see games at more than 60 FPS if the TV only has a 60Hz refresh rate, because as I mentioned earlier this is a hardware limitation.

    This is interesting because my old TV allows 1080p at 120 refresh rate on my xbox even though my tv is just a HD 60hz tv

    My current TV gave me options for 120hz butits only a HD TV says it only does 60 on the specs my new one that's coming soon says it 50hz TV well 60hz when on a hdmi device but I was just wondering if its possible to get the 120 option and if it would work
