My thoughts on the Games with Gold program

"Such a small return buying gold."

That's what I got out of this thread. What I don't understand though is that you really aren't supposed to get any kind of return on a service you pay for. We have our propane filled once or twice a year, however they don't offer any free refills or discounts
of any kind. I'm not bitter towards the company we go to, that's just how a business works. The gaming community however is the only type of business I know of that could do that, and Microsoft is happy to oblige.

 

The free games Microsoft are giving away this month, on both platforms, have a combined value greater than the year subscription to Gold. lol

 

Figured I ought to follow through and let you guys know that I had a lovely chat with one of the team in charge of Games With Gold and now good things are coming

Just goes to show that the people who were incredulous that I wanted more from such a great company as Microsoft were barking up the wrong tree...

Anyway, another job well done by the Xbox team, hope you guys continue to find pleasure arguing with strangers online and have the day you deserve!

Oh owen you do make me laugh! Why on Earth would I make up a story about talking to the Xbox team? I don't think I'd gain anything by pretending but maybe you were trying to imply something else?

I would just like to point out that yes, the games are actually "free". The same way that small drinks are "free" with the purchase of a burger and fries or a car wash is "free" with a fill up. Corporate America has redefined what the word free means and
arguing about obviously is pointless since both sides are too stubborn to see the others point of view.

 

I haven't bothered to read this thread at all but has anyone pointed out that Microsoft stated themselves that it has been harder to get developers behind GAMES WITH GOLD because on the Xbox 360 users get to keep it forever even if there Xbox Live runs out
unlike the PSN Network where users who stop subscribing to the PSN Network lose access to the game unless the buy the game separately and if I'm right from what I read from Microsoft this is why they had to change the Xbox One policy of Games For Gold to suit
how the PSN Network run there's so developers would back Games For Gold which would result in Microsoft offering better games to it's gamers.

 

I didn't know that. But it makes sense for perma-access to free games being limited to active subscribers. IMO

 

Its free games at the end of the day, I mean since Phil Spencer took control of Xbox the game for gold programme is getting better than it started and also included is now deals with gold.

 

Which are currently great deals.

 

Free stuff shouldnt be sniffed at, yes some of the games aren't as good as others but for less than £4 a month its pretty good.
