  1. My Terrible Xbox One experience

I have been a loyal Xbox fanboy/advocate for years. Loved my 360. Still play the thing. Despite my red ring of death at almost exactly 3 years of use, I had the console fixed and since it has worked like a champ.

You can imagine being that I'm a huge Xbox fan how excited I was to get my brand new Xbox One on Christmas in 2013. I cast my doubts aside regarding the glitches and hardware issues usually seen during the first run for new so called "next gen" consoles.

Let's run a quick timeline of events that unfolded roughly 6 months after purchasing the console.

1.) Console purchased and first used in Nov/December respectively of 2013.

    First sign of problems:

    • Bluray movies and DVDs unable to be played consistently. Cryptic error cited. Only forum help I can find leads me to a "solution" which is that every time I want to play a movie I need to hard reboot my console. Games never have this issue mind you, but
      movies do.
    After approx. 6-7 months:

    • Loud grinding noise heard from disc drive and games suddenly won't play.
    • Returned console for repair. Upon receiving back console updated and played games as expected.
    Another couple months go by...

    • I come home from work, pop a game in the console and it won't play. Won't read the disc. I double check other discs, nothing will read, movies, DVDs, etc.
    • Xbox recommends to send the console back for another repair after their hard reboot and refresh of the console back to factory defaults does nothing to remedy this.
    • At this point my warranty has expired by about 7 days, as that warranty period begins the day the console is purchased as opposed to the first day the console was purchased.
    • Xbox extends the olive branch and informs me of a unofficial 30-day grace period for which they had me send the Xbox back in for "repair".
    • I appreciate their extension of the warranty and send the console back in.
At this point by the time I get my console back it's Christmas time, and I'm pumped because I just got a brand new 60" plasma to play my newly repaired console on... Shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

Literally THE DAY I got the the console back I had issues. I would guess they gave me some "refurb" and never actually quality checked it at all.

    • The console could barely boot up
    • got a black screen of death and had to hard reboot 3-5 times to get the console to start updating. Updates seem to finally be working.
    • I come home from work the following day and suddenly my Xbox won't even output to the TV.
    • My TV is detectingnot even detecting a signal from the Xbox. I try different cords, hard booting, using the same TV HDMI input with multiple devices, only thing that won't work is the Xbox One.
Shame on me assuming that this would work after the 3rd time in 6 months I'd received a console back. So I send it in. Again. Per the Xbox warranty, the warranty is automatically extended after a repair is made to the console

I chatted with xbox support again, and the service person politely explains that if they can't fix they'll issue a new console but that they can't assure it will be a brand new console that is sent to me despite having 3 junk consoles in 6 months.

So. I send the console in. For the 3rd time. In 6 months.

Now I write you sitting here on 1/20/2015 the most defeated Xbox One owner on the face of the planet. After getting home from a hard days work and plugging in my console, updating the system update. I put in my new copy of GTA V which I have literally not
played despite owning for about a month... What do I hear? A terrible horrible whirring noise so loud it makes the console virtually unplayable no matter what disc I put in.

Here we go again Microsoft. Why won't you just make this right? Who in the world are you outsourcing your console repairs to that they're this negligent in sending your replacement/repaired consoles back without the most basic of testing? I mean seriously?
HDMI Out? Disc drive issues? Loud whirring noises when a disc is in the drive? Come on.

You gave me a lemon to replace a console with a bad disc drive. Then a console with bad disc drive to replace a console with a bad HDMI port? What the heck. I can't win here. Calling support now.

    Here's to repair number 4!

    Here's to "repair" number 4!

    :)

  2. TERRIBLE XBOX ONE EXPERIENCE

For the longest time, Microsoft has been a real joy to work with, that's sarcasm if I might add. This new Xbox one enforcement team is complete and utter BS. You may as well be giving youe customers the middle finger. My chat got banned because of some exchange
of words in game with some kid.

Microsoft always does a good job on messing things up constantly. Your enforcement team sucks, and so does the policy so do something about it. That xbox one is going to a pawn shop for a PS4.

I feel your pain dude. I have spent the last 30mins trying to boot up the console only for it to switch itself off each time, currently staring at a black screen with a lovely xbox logo on it and that's as far as it goes. Got my console at the same time
as you and had to have it replaced in November 2014 due to faulty disc drive, no issues with the replacement console as far as the disc drive goes but it shuts itself down whenever it feels like it, so gameplay or watching a movie proves to be a tricky business,
I was informed that it was a known issue and they were trying to fix it but, frankly, that doesn't solve my problem.
