    My Tech Support nightmare


    I bought the Game Stop Exclusive Lunar Xbox One Controller by Microsoft. I got home plugged it in and my headset would not work. Now I had the old controller and it had the headset adapter(the one you had to buy Thanks Microsoft) and it worked fine. So I
    talked to Xbox Support and they had me do the basics which I already did: Updates, power down, reboot, yadda yadda yadda. So She said it was the controller. I exchanged the controller and again the headset did not work. I contacted Xbox again and He had me
    go thru my network settings (have no idea why that would affect my headset). After jumping thru hoops and stuff I did manage to get the mic working and sound, but it was so low I could hardly hear it. I tried everything for that and got nowhere. I am really
    surprised that my old controller had no issues. I now question the training support gets. So I am going back to game stop and getting my old controller and headset adapter back. I am really upset that something that should have been plug and play caused me
    so much issues and wasted my time. If anyone knows why this happened I would like to know why my headset did not work.

    I'd get a Switch anyway, its a great console. I spent ten hours over the weekend playing Dragon Quest Builders, and it was only a demo My Tech Support nightmare :eek:

    The support here is provided by other Xbox users, not by Xbox Support.

    You can contact Xbox Support here -
    https://support.xbox.com/contact-us


    If you're in the states you can call them at 800-469-9269

    They can help troubleshoot the Xbox but it not a phone number for a replacement.

    If they determine there's an issue with the Xbox console that needs repair, they can assist with creating a repair order for your console.

    METALHEAD2174, I'm sorry to hear about your issue. I see in your post where the Microsoft rep walked you through updates, were you walked through console updates or controller updates? When purchasing a new controller you should connect the controller to
    the console via USB cable, ensure your headset is connected to the controller, and visit Settings > Devices & Accessories > Select your controller and choose update.

    Controllers purchased after June 2015 will be able to update wirelessly, but I always suggest using a USB cable for your first update. Please view this article for any questions you have about updating your controller:

    As stated in my thread. Yes I did updates. It said did not require one. I tired 2 brand new controllers. I wasted over an hour of my time. I did use the USB cable. Why are consoles so difficult to use. I miss the old school consoles where you didn't have
    to jump threw hoops and the issues were easy to fix. I think MS should do a better job training their Tech Support and if I new issue comes up they should report it and look into it. It's a controller! Not a Space Shuttle. Should just be plug and go. Instead

    Tried. Was on the phone with tech support. They have never head of this happening. For someone with OCD, this is a nightmare. LOL. But it does sound like a hardware issue. So I have no answers. Looks like my 4th xbox is on its way. :(
