I have been using a external storage device for my games and its been fine but recently my Xbox 1S is no longer detecting it at all and and so my games are using all of my internal storage which is a problem. I have turned my Xbox on and off and removed all wires and put them back in along with going to general settings and having sleep mode as standby and unchecking the box for when Xbox is off so is the storage and it still is not detecting the storage device like it use to. I have plugged the hard drive into my pc and it works fine there but still not for Xbox even though it did use to. I have also made sure that my Xbox is fully updated and yet my device isn't connected and i just don't understand because it worked fine and then i accidently unplugged it so when i replugged it has not been detected on my Xbox storage space since.

    Any Ideas?

    :)

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.

I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this WinterKnight161

Can you try connecting your hard drive to a different Xbox console?

Exists the possibility that the data on the drive is corrupted.

This helps us to isolate the issue, if it's not working on another console. The next step will be use your PC and format the drive. Then plug into the console and reconfigure it

And just to confirm, did you tried connecting the drive using a different USB port or using a different cable (if possible)

    Storage Drive

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with being able to use a different type of cable for you storage device to connect it to your console.

I personally use the cable your posted in your 2nd image for my external storage device, and I don't encounter problems with being able to detect it on my console. Whenever I plug this into another console, this can sometimes take a bit to properly display
    all my games.

The only thing that comes to mind, InsAneSwAg, would be that the cable is faulty. Have you attempted to use a different cable of the same type on your console to detect this? Are you able to detect this on your PC with this same type of cable? Have you tried
to reformat this device and then use on your console? The port or jack you are plugging your cable into, could be damaged or dirty, so this might be why the device is not be recognized.

There is an article that covers how to
troubleshoot external devices detection on your console
that you might want to take a look at.

Give this a try and let us know if this works for you!

My Xbox won't recognize my new flashdrive

    www.xbox.com/.../storage

Seems like the USB is not passing the xbox's check for being usable as a storage device.

This USB storage device works just fine on my PC, but why doesn’t it work on my Xbox 360?

If the USB storage device does not work at all, then there was a problem accessing the device (for example, it is faulty or write-protected) or it failed the Xbox 360 integrity check. If the USB storage device is configured, but a performance warning is
displayed, it’s due to the Xbox 360 requiring a higher level of sustained performance than most PC uses.
