My sons x box one smells like burning plastic what is wrong ??

My advice is to turn it off and unplug it until you figure out what's going on, have a look around where the console is and see if there's any thing nearby that could be getting to hot and giving off that smell. It might also be worth getting in touch
with
customer support as they will be able to help you figure out what the issue is, and get the console in for a service if need be.

If that is the case then something is def. not right, As mentioned when did you by this console? Is there anything near the console its sending heat on to? Is it getting proper ventilation? Hours a day its played more or less does it get excessive use. I
would unplug it for awhile including the power brick to console. While you try to figure out the issue probably best to have the power off if you do indeed smell burning plastic.

When did you buy this because this isn't normal. If it is still under warranty you can have it service via Microsoft. Or if you live near a Microsoft store you can take it there and they will replace it if is under warranty.

He might just be playing xbox to much and the ventilation is overworking its self he might just need to let it cool down.

Unplug the thing until someone qualified has had a look inside it!
