My sons gamertag was stolen...can I get it back

I have his email and phone number...it was sent to my email when he changed it...of course I didn't catch it until I woke up the next morning and could no longer log on

It'll depend on the results of the unauthorized access investigation as to if they are able to get his account back. You would have to keep working with them for this issue.

If you know the guy's gamertag, you can file a complaint on him via the console so the enforcement team can investigate him.

They said they cant even open the account. I logged into the email that used to be on my account and it said "join xbox live" My gamertag went from "Jake" to "". Iv'e been on the phone with support for the last 3 hours and I can't access either
of my old accounts. I pull my xbox out of my closet after a year and a half after leaving because my account gets stolen(not being my fault that reps get socialed), and now I not only cant get my account that was stolen back but I cant get my other account
back. And the only thing the reps can tell me is "post on the forums" or "there is no way you can recover this account". Then on the forums you tell me to go back to the reps? They are going to tell me to come back here.

There are ways, but with the amount of time that has lapsed, you may not have many more options left.

There is a form you complete, as you noted, but it needs to be based on the fact that you can't remember the password reset options. The form will ask you to leave a totally separate address for them to contact you and provide various information. Some
of that will be things only you will know (such as past credit/debit cards on the account, or the console ID you used the most). Support agents won't be able to help you, so the form is your only possible option.

Unfortunately, you uncovered one of the biggest reasons why Microsoft prohibits users from sharing account details with one another. Your Microsoft account is as valuable as a bank account can be, so it's something you never share with others, no matter the
