  1. My son wants to take the xbox one

About every 3 or 4 months my son wants to take the xbox one to a friends house. I am reluctant because it's not exactly portable and I flash back to the original 360 with bad solder and the red ring of death. I know he wont drop it, but just getting moved
    around can potentially cause issues...

    Am I being too paranoid?

    Thanks

    :)

New XBOX X, how to maintain my old Xbox one S for my son and share games and Xbox Gold

Hi, Tomorrow will arrive my new Xbox One X and actually at home I have a Xbox One S where i have my gamer tag and my Son has his. I want to give my actually Xbox "One S" to my Son and take the "One X" for me. So, I know that i can
transfer all the games and Apps using an external drive or network, but how can i share all the games i have, all the games that i will buy in the future and my xbox gold Subscription?

I really have not understand the right steps to take and the right order. I have to set my xbox home on the new "One X" (that i will use) or on the old "One S"?

Please can you write me the right steps and the order that i have to take?

    Thank you,

    Matteo

It should be fine just make sure you take discs out and pad it sufficiently

I'm sure your son wouldn't drop it on purpose, but let's hope he works out as it's as heavy as a sack of bricks. Lol. I watched a video of some guys dropping a X1 and Ps4 from 5 feet, then ten feet; surprisingly the X1 still worked and was relatively intact
while the PS4 was demolished. I would've put money the other way around. Lol. So it would appear your son wouldn't have any problems taking it to a friends house.

    Peace, J.R.

The Xbox One is very durable. My cousin brought his Xbox One over just about every other weekend since launch night. As well traveled with it across country 2X. And his is fine. Make sure he packs it nicely with nothing in the disc drive.

Your paranoia is understandable as electronics are never 100% trustworthy. Nor are kids

It should be fine just put it in a bag with padding. I put mine in a pillow case and pack clothes around it.

Be more concerned if he changes the Xbox One's home status at the friends house. After 3 changes of the consoles "Home" status being changed, you have to wait 1 year from the initial change to set it back to your Home console.

What this does is give the friend access to all of the digital content on your Xbox One when the friends console is set to be the Home console.

  12. No. Personally I would leave the X1 at home if for no other reason than to help spir him and his friends into doing other things.

Riding bikes, playing ball etc. They will be doing far less of those physical things if we parents allow tech toys to take the place of healthy imaginations, habits, and the like.

A good example of what I am getting at, just google and read what Steve Jobs had to say about such things.

I wouldn't allow it, if the decision were up to me.

The Xbox One wasn't meant to be portable. To me, it's as simple as that. Sure, it can be made portable but doing so means it's being used in a way that wasn't intended. I'm not much for condoning that kind of behavior.

I would be understanding about special situations like moving or if custody is being exchanged for parents with shared custody, extended vacations or something. Those are special circumstances. That's different from just taking it over to a friend's house
for an afternoon. Also... I know when I was a kid, I'd 'play that game' of just keep bugging dad to let me do something one time... because I knew if I got him to cave once, I could get away with doing it a lot more often afterward. And we all know the more
often it happens, the higher the chances something unexpected can "throw a wrench into works."

Anyway, just my take on it.

  14. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it due to the fact that it could potentially be damaged. But, there shouldn't be any issue at all if your son takes care of it.

Also, I would like to apologize for my lack of positivity at the moment; I am just frustrated right now My son wants to take the xbox one :(

Go to a Goodwill or a value store and go to their bags section. You can find some really nice bags that will have padding, possibly a computer bag large enough for your XB1. A large laptop bag with areas for accessories should be big enough. And best
of all you can get them at a very very low price. I recently found an Tenba bag, normally for photography, that is perfect for my current laptop and accessories. It retail for about $170, I got it for $5.
