    My son received a 24 hour Communication Suspension. What would trigger this?


    My son recently received a 24-hour Communication Suspension. Since the suspension is less than 24 hours, I am unable to file a case review to get specific details. He currently does not have a mic and we do not have a Kinect for voice communications.
    I went through his messages and nothing offensive or harassing. I'm a firm believer in being held accountable for your actions. Before I have a discussion with my son, I was hoping if someone could shed some light on what could trigger the Suspension.

    The details provided were very vague. See Below.

    This account sent inappropriate messages or participated in inappropriate voice or text communications. This may include harassment or bullying behavior, using abusive or offensive language, negative
    speech towards a person or group, disruptive behavior, spamming, or other inappropriate communications.

    I am not defending his behavior! I would just like to know more about what behavior could lead to a Suspension of this nature and if further punishment needs to be taken by me.

    My Xbox live account was suspended

    I just received an email that my son has received a 14 day communications suspension. I would like further information on what happened so I can handle this situation in house. Thank you!

    Communications suspension?!?

    i recently received a 24 hour communications suspension for actions i did not commit. This is absurd!! Is there any way to lift this ban?

    Based on what he was suspended for, he said something over Live (messages or chat) that violated the code of conduct. It could be anything from profanity to harassing another player by calling them rude names.

    Like Smwutches said it could be as simple as calling someone a bad name or saying something in a Party Text chat. You also have to be very careful with online communications because there is people out there who do file false reports and these reports can
    not always be verified as true however if this happens again the ban may increase if he does get another communication ban for whatever reason then you should be able to appeal it but personally I would let this one go as nobody can provide you with relevant
    information.

    If this is a ban because of people filing false reports I do apoligise.

    HELP! . Type of punishments on Xbox

    It would basically depend on what the enforcement team determines and how severe the message is and what part of the code of conduct it violates. Basically you're right about if it's a message concerning marketplace theft, etc. it would be an account ban.
    A message with bad language is mainly going to be a communication suspension.

    You can receive a permanent communication bad. Account/communication suspensions generally start at 24 hours to 2 weeks depending on how many suspenions you receive. Multiple suspensions will then turn into a permanent ban.

    You can go to the enforcement site
    https://enforcement.xbox.com/home     to check any enforcement actions on your account.

    24 hour suspensions can't be appealed simply because by the time it is re investigated the suspension would be over.

    Like you said,best thing to do if you receive any abusive messages over live is to just report & block the sender.
