My son has removed himself from family group. How do I rectify?

    Hi there

My son has removed himself from the xbox family account - I have no idea how - I believe he has changed his Microsoft age to born in 1999 - would this be enough?

He has also talked about him going into the boot process of the xbox and stopping it from loading the part that restricts him.

Any suggestions as to what I can do please (other than chuck the xbox out of the window)

He is extremely clever and resourceful - ideally I would like the email address he has changed his age on limited by Microsoft to serve as a lesson, however not sure how I would do this as cannot log on to his account any more!

    All help much appreciated!

    :)

My son has removed himself from family group. How do I rectify?

    Hello RupertBrown1,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like your son has managed to bypass the parental controls on his Xbox account by changing his birth year and interrupting the boot process. This is a serious violation of the Xbox terms of service and could result in his account being suspended or banned.

To rectify this situation, you need to do the following steps:

    - Reset your son's Xbox console to factory settings. This will erase all the data and settings on the console, including any changes he made to the boot process. To do this, go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset console > Reset and remove everything.

    - Sign in to your Microsoft account on a web browser and go to https://account.microsoft.com/family/. There, you should see your son's account under your family group. If not, you can add him back by clicking on Add a family member and following the instructions.

    - On the same page, you can also review and adjust the parental controls for your son's account, such as screen time limits, content filters, purchase settings, etc. Make sure to set them according to your preferences and expectations.

    - Once you have done that, you can sign in to your son's account on his Xbox console and sync it with your family group. To do this, go to Settings > Account > Family settings > Manage family members > Add to family.

I hope this helps you resolve your issue and restore your family's harmony. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again. Thank you for choosing Xbox.

My son has removed himself from family group. How do I rectify?

    Hello RupertBrown1,

Thank you for your response. An account suspension occurs if the account or person has broken the Micrsoft terms and conditions or if a player has violated our code of conduct. If I personally answer this question, the first thing that I would do is explain to him the agreed codes of conduct. Limiting his time and access to contents would be an option too.

Trouble with switching child account back to original (re: proper) Family group ...

I figured it out ... Logging into the Microsoft website using my "gmail" credentials, I navigated to the Family Group.

I had to "remove consent" for my son FIRST, and then I was allowed to remove my son from the "gmail" family group. Logging back into my "hotmail" Family Group, I was able to add him back easy peasy.
