If it's not possible to restore the console to its factory settings through the Xbox troubleshooter screen, as a last resort to try to solve the problem, it is recommended to attempt an offline update of the console following the instructions in the following link:

...My sons dad did a factory reset on his xbox one and now everything is gone. We tried logging in and it got a different picture and name connected to it...

In that case, your son signed in with a different email than he used before.

If the account was set up by his dad, is it possible that the kid used his dad's email (which he should NOT!).

If you sign in your son with the previously used email, he should have his old name and picture again.

My friend recently had this start happening, he turned it on for the first time in a while to install Advanced Warfare and was met with a clicking noise for s few min, he turned it off and waited a few min, when he turned it back on it will show the Xbox
boot logo and go straight to a black screen. He;s tried all every power down option and gets a black screen no matter what.
