We appreciate you have posted a question here about how to set up the steering wheel, this peripheral might need to be connected through controller or directly to Xbox Console. Kindly check the instruction that comes with the steering wheel for the correct way to connect it to Xbox Console.

For detecting the controller or the steering wheel into the game, please visit the game support page and look for the list of supported peripherals. For instance, your son is trying to play Forza, Forza Support has posted every game edition it's supported peripherals and the list may be private to all players only. Did your sons wheel end up working? My son is having the same issues and is crushed he can’t play. Also, spending $400 on the wheel, were not happy he can’t use it anymore. Hoping there’s been a fix.

Gaming chairs with built in steering wheels are quite expensive. I would recommend getting a simple steering wheel for the Xbox One or PC if that's where he plays. With a little work you could mount the wheel on a small TV tray and then just fold it away
when not in use.

Your son can then sit on any chair comfortable to him and play his game until he's big enough to get a larger gaming chair.

You shouldn't have an issue in selling the steering wheel, I recently sold my wireless force feedback steering wheel, The buyer had no issues with the steering wheel atall.

He simply plugged it all in and was able to play fine, I didn't supply him with the original PGR 3 demo disc, Just the wheel, Pedals and cables, He did have an xbox live connection though.

The demo disc may have the installation files on it, If i remember rightly that the demo game is all i received with my steering wheel when bought brand new, If your planning on selling it on ebay or an auction site then it would be best to say that you
will only be supplying the demo disc

If the steering wheel is compatible with the Xbox One, then it will work on the Xbox One S & the Xbox One X. So it should work on your sons Xbox. Which make and model of steering wheel is it?
