My son can't update Mincraft

My son is no longer able to play Minecraft with friends who have updated their game. He tries to update in xbox insider hub and it says he is under 18 and can't update - I do not have age restrictions turned on in his account, how do you change his age.

You can join realms in mincraft pe, but my friend can't join in any server for some reason.

I already have access to my account though, it’s my mincraft account that I gone does this form recovery your mincraft account?

AND all we wanted to do was add the Mincraft SK5 - we can't use a debit/credit card to purchase this.

I could try that but my mincraft game itself auto updates just fine (this has been going on a while) so i want to do that as a last resort
