My son can't connect to the XBox 360 since he enabled 2-factor authentication

After my suggestion, my son enabled two-factor authentication on his Live account.

Now, he undusted the Xbox 360 and wanted to connect. Because it does not support two-factor authentication, he needs an application password. Apparently, after comparing his account and mine, he can't create app passwords with his!?

Why? How can he connect to the Xbox 360 now?

    :)

how is it i can log in ok on my laptop to my account but not through the xbox.............please help before i use a sledge hammer on it

Have you enabled two factor authentication? If so you need to sign in on a PC and create an "app password" for your Xbox.

When comparing his account and mine, under "security", I can see the "App passwords" section under mine, but not his. His Live account doesn't seem to allow creating app passwords.

    Damn child accounts, only troubles.

    Hi Slimcode!

I'm sorry to heart that. When you turn on two-step verification, you'll be prompted to enter your Microsoft account password the next time you download your Xbox profile or sign in to the Xbox console. Follow these steps:

    1. Visit your
      Security basics
page online to get an app password.
    2. Enter the app password on your Xbox 360 instead of the password for your Microsoft account.
    3. If you don't want to reenter an app password each time you sign in to this console, select the
      Remember me check box.
    4. Select Sign In.
I would suggest to take a look at this: Xbox 360 Console doesn't prompt you for a security code.

    Hope this helps

There is no "app password" under his account!!! Have you actually read my message? I know he must use an app password.

Are "app passwords" only available to adult accounts?

If possible, could you upload an image of your child’s security page (Security -> Update Security Info -> More Security Info) here, after deleting the sensitive and personal information?

There’s a button to attach image when you write comments here.

Hey slimcode. What do you mean by he cannot create an app password? You mean after turning on Two-step verification, he does not have an App password section in the More security option?

Also, have you had a look at this article. It may help you out on this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12409/microsoft-account-app-passwords-and-two-step-verification
