My son cannot play with me online

Hi

I've got an Xbox One and my son has Xbox 360. We are not in the same country and have been trying for over a month to play with each other via Xbox Live.

We made sure his privacy settings (his mom assisting on his side) are correct. Mine are also correct.

I can add him as a friend on my side and see him online. It always says he has 0 friends online on his side. If he sends me a friend request it shows pending on his side and I never receive the friend request.

Support advised me to delete my profile on my Xbox and then add it again, which I've done but with no difference to the issue.

Can someone please gicg some advice on how to resolve, I would really appreciate it.

Normally a game that puts the xbox one into 360 mode like a Bomberman Live battlefest as a (360 only game) an example of this I think you might be able to get play along side each other that is a game you might be able to try I think that has split screen
as another option.

Hello! Due your child is in xbox 360 and you are in xbox one, you must start a retro-compatible game in your xbox one to access the xbox 360 menu. Once you are in that menu, you will see the profile request of your son on xbox 360

Sorry to hear your having issues playing games with your son on Xbox Live. As someone pointed out, you will need to play a backwards compatible title to get into the Xbox 360 mode. I would find a title from the compatible

list and boot it up on both consoles. Once you have it loaded, see if he can now see you online.

Ok. That makes sense from the game.

But what about from the home menu that he can't see me as online? In other words without a game being played at all.
