My series x usb ports smell of burning if I plug in my ssd or anything else usb

The trouble only started this morning Thursday 2nd November I have owned my console from new for a couple of years now and never had a problem before today everything else works fine I just can’t use my usb ports in only takes a couple of seconds before the strong smell of burning

No only when I plug something in to a usb port do I smell burning and no the cable isn't burnt it's okay the console is okay as long as I don't plug anything in to the USB ports

Sorry to hear you are having this issue. If you don't plug in a USB device, no burning smell at all? When you remove the USB cable, does it look burnt?

Is this a new console you have just got or have you had it a while?

I guess if you plug more than one into the Series X (which I assume you can do given it has multiple USB ports), then you could just then transfer between them presumably

My Series X has four drives. The internal SSD, a 1TB expansion card, a 2TB SATA SSD (in a USB enclosure) and a 2TB HDD.

You cannot use an external drive for series X games even a USB 3.1 SSD is too slow.

You have to use an M2 MVME and it has to be a 3rd gen.

It plugs into the expansion card slot not the USB port.
