My second Hard Drive won't format!

I have two harddrives. I want to format both. For my primary HDD, the format went fine, but for the second HDD (I bought this used at Gamespot), it will not let me format.

When it tells me to enter the consoles serial #, I do it & then hit done & then it just bounces me back to the pages that tells me to get the serial number for my system.

No matter how many times I enter the correct serial number for my console & hit the start button, it will act like I hit the back button!

The format went fine with the HDD that came with the 360, but a used one can't be formatted?

Start Up Freeze

Tried clearing the cache (when I can actually get to it) but it didn't help.

I went so far as to format my hard drive but now my Xbox won't even recognize my internal hard drive.

Format my Hard Drive?

After an Xbox Update an hour ago, I noticed missing profiles, but it didn't really bother me. I went on to a game of MW3, and it told me I was missing maps I had already updated. I looked up the problem and someone had the same thing, but a simple suggestion:
just go to the game in system memory, erase all of the memory there and redownload it. So, I went to system settings, and my Hard Drive popped up as "Unformatted" and I was confused, when I pressed it, it told me it was going to erase all of my memory. I went
to the forums to see if anyone else had the problem and they said just to do it. So, I tried and I typed in the number requested and it showed it was formatting it, but afterwords it showed up as "Unformatted" again. What am I supposed to do?

Never mind, I unplugged the HDD & restarted the system. It was recognized after that.

Yes, since you're using the same account you can just plug the hard drive into the second Xbox and it'll work. Since it's already formatted for use on an Xbox, it won't ask you to reformat it.

Hey there!

When the Xbox Formats the hard drive it means its preparing it to store Xbox games and media, try power cycling the console (Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, wait for 30 seconds and then restart)

Then if that does not help try formatting the Hard drive again, if that gives no success i suggest returning the hard drive and getting it exchanged

If you're talking about the hard drive that sits on top of the arcade edition Xbox 360 if you've formatted that on a PC then that hard drive is essentially useless. The console can only read FAT32 formatted console drives, however these need to be in a very
particular file system structure for the console to read the drive. There's no way to format that hard drive with anything other than a Xbox 360 console and expect it work, it just won't, or it will and it will only appear as a USB Flash Drive.

Theory of Game

Just to be sure... does your hard drive use USB 3.0? If it's a USB 2.x hard drive, the Xbox One won't be able to format it for use with games/apps.
