My purchase is being blocked?

Their are 2 things that determine whether your account is considered a child account or not.

1. The DOB on the account when it was originally setup.

2. If you are in a Family as a child account.

If the DOB on the account when it was originally setup is still under the age of majority (18 in most countries) then it is required for it to be in a family account as a child.

Sometimes once the age of majority is reached there can be a glitch in the system that still keeps it in a family as a child.

When this happens you should be able to sign into your account at account.microsoft.com/family and remove yourself from the family which will then put you into a family of your own as an adult.

IF your DOB is still under the age of majority and you remove yourself from the family you will NOT be able to do anything on the account till you add yourself back into a family as a child.

My question is how were you added under a family of people you do not know?

This would have been setup when your account was originally setup as a child account it would have asked for a parent to sign into their account and verify there identity and then they would be able to add you to their account as a child.

Need more of a description to this issue. Also sounds like something that might need to be handled better over customer phone support.

Thanks a few days ago i brought up the issue of not being able to purchase and it was from a block on my card and i was told the only way to make the purchase once the block was lifted was to purchase “microsoft credits” and i just needed some clarification
on what those were so i didnt accidentally buy the wrong thing

Now it's gotten stranger. I was able to get the little 400 point purchase I needed, but the next purchase is being blocked by that error again.

"check account" The payment option for an existing subscription has been declined and this purchase is blocked. Remaining with a balance in favor of my account without being able to make the payment.
