    My Personal Information Was Compromised by Xbox Customer Service Employee


    A warning to others:
    Today on June 16th, 2023, I placed a ticket to request a call back for a customer service issue regarding a recently purchased game. A minute later I received a phone call from +1.425.635.2970 area code Bellevue WA, United States, the Xbox call centre.

    I won't go into the details of what my call was about as it's not relevant. However, I had a disagreement with the customer service agent and I was
    short and rude with them as they were deliberately not helpful and seemed to revel in my discomfort. (I did not threaten, curse or yell)

    Shortly thereafter, my credit card attached to my xbox account began receiving a number of fraudulent transactions, including
    Door dash

    Xbox game purchases

    Software purchases from multiple different companies

    My bank quickly recognized the purchases as fraudulent and locked my card.

    This card has not been exposed anywhere else, is not attached to any other reoccurring payment/online account. I have not used it on any links from e-mails, texts, etc. The card would have had 0 opportunity of compromise over the past while from any source.

    My belief is that the card was likely posted publicly on some sort of forum as deliberate "punishment" for my rudeness.

    I know this is a very serious accusation and obviously I do not have the evidence to prove that the card information was stolen and spread online by the offended Xbox/Microsoft employee definitively at this time, but there is beyond reasonable grounds to believe that it is related.

    I selected the option to allow recording of the phone call and I hope that this is looked into further by supervisors/management at Xbox to at very least discern whether similar issues have been reported in the past with regard to this employee.

    the card details are useless, as the cvv is not stored by them and only purchases via your account can be made, they cannot use any details to add the card to any other account as the important parts of the card are encrypted and even support cannot see them.

    Hm. That sounds like an odd thing for Xbox Support to tell you. When my account got hacked, they helped me right then and there over the phone. Unfortunately, this is not the correct place for this since this type of account troubleshooting can only be done
    by Microsoft employees in a private manner as to not compromise personal information. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and explain your situation again.

    So according to you if a company/service/website doesn't have a log in limit then they aren't secure? You do realize that many banks have been compromised over the years? And not one log in was compromised, it was due to the bank
    having its customer information on a laptop that was stolen.
