My password is too long to enter into my xbox 360

I want to play some darksoulsTM but I can't loggin. My password is 20 characters long but I can't enter more than 16. No such problem on pc. Bug maybe? Or should I try a new password?

NVM. I went the route through the 360/internet explorer to get it reset. Had to redeem a code (for Fallout 3) that would not work on my Xbox one. It did work on the 360.

It would be best to make a new password that's 16 characters or under. You can start here: Change Your Microsoft Account Password | Change Xbox Password

I wouldn't expect Microsoft to be fixing this bug anytime soon, because I know that this issue has been untouched for probably years.

 

Basically it is a limitation to the 360 including the emulator on the One for backwards compatible games that it does not like passwords longer then 16 characters so if you are wanting to play games on your 360 just make change your password to something
that is less then 16 characters.

 

Instead of choosing a "weaker" and shorter password, do this instead and increase your account security even MORE!

Go to
https://account.live.com/Proofs/Manage and enable Two Step Verification if not already done so.

Below that, set up the Authenticator App.

After you set up the Authenticator App, you should see another paragraph below with the option to create an app password.

Create such an app password and use that password instead of your regular password on the Xbox 360.

That way you can keep your secure 20 letter password, get an "unhackable" account thanks to Two Step Verification where a hacker would have to physically steal your phone to get into your account, and you can use a "weaker" password on the 360 without compromising
your account security, as this app password only allows apps to access certain features to authenticate you, but won't allow regular account access.
