My party chat stops working after someone leaves my party on PC. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with Xbox party chat. I understand that the issue happens whenever any of your friend leaves the chat. Do you have multiple output and input devices? If you have multiple devices, please ensure that your headset is set to default.

Go to Settings > System > Sound > All sound devices and click on your preferred input and output devices to default device.

If you're still having issues, please use the Microsoft Gaming Repair Tool for Xbox App, this tool detects and automatically repairs error found on your system. Please download and install it using this link then run it as administrator.

When I invite someone to party or join someone it says connecting and then it’s will say party chat disconnected and then I can’t join any of my friends does any one know how to fix?

Any update on this? I had the same problem, so I switched to another PC that was still working correctly, meaning I could see my xbox one streamed through windows 10, but continue to use the controller with the headset as usual.

And then after several weeks, just like with my 1st PC, for some reason the party chat now transitions away from my controller headset to my PC when I start streaming. If I stop streaming, the controller headset starts working again. So my choice is to
either participate in party chat OR see the screen, but not both.

This makes streaming useless for any multiplayer activity involving party chat.

I've been having a problem with game chat on my xbox as well. It all works perfectly fine except when I want to talk to someone or someone is trying to talk to me. It doesnt allow me to communicate with my team when I play a game. It works every once in
a while but not often. I go in game chat while in a party and in cant hear anyone. And if I leave the party it's still the same. It doesnt allow me any communication with people. I've gone into my settings and everything is allowed. Can you please tell me
how to fix this issue.

People also tend to create one person parties and then hope someone will join without them inviting anyone. Some of my friends will also leave their consoles on after going to be and go afk on YouTube or Netflix and still be in a one person party. The great
thing about party chat is you can do different stuff and still be in chat. I think Sony copied Microsoft's Xbox Live Party Chat idea from Xbox 360 and now they have a Party chat on their 8th gen console or something. When I was choosing to go with either Xbox
or PS in 2010, someone said Xbox because they have Microsoft software not cheap software running on the console and Xbox Live and party chat and that the features of XBL are better than PSN which I think is true. Microsoft I think is a better software company
than Sony.
