My open and honest, totally unbiased review of the xbox one - 6 weeks in.

I like the console, but my only complaints are:

Controller took a step back. It's too small and feels cheapish.

Not enough games, but that will change.

Games don't look that much better or not as good as I thought they would, but that will change.

Some features are missing, but I'm sure they will be added with future updates. These complaints are minimal and I know they will change. The controller is the only real gripe I have.

Maybe it's because I'm a girl, but I actually like the new controller. It doesn't feel to small to me, but I'm sure there will be other versions of the controller released at some time. I wouldn't be surprised if they
released a controller that was the same as the 360.

I agree with the controller, i prefer the 360 pad and i think the analogue sticks could do with having a bit more resistance.

Launch period, there is never enough games this has never changed, in fact i would say this is the strongest launch line up ever in terms of variety.

Launch games are usually held back by previous gen games because they are ported up. When we start seeing games built from the ground up on new gen, then we will see more of a difference. Look at the division, It doesn't need to make any compromises.

I like the controller, I think the new look is pretty slick! Doubt MS will do a next-gen 360 edition controller for Xbox ONE, but would be pretty cool!! Some sort of ''anniversary'' edition controller!

 

I'm with vanpirella here and I don't think the controller feels small at all (I don't have small hands btw). It's probably one of the most comfortable controllers I've ever used. I went back to my 360 controller after not using it for a very long time and
it doesn't feel even close to as comfortable and I loved the 360 controller. I'm extremely happy with this controller. The bumpers 1 of the biggest complaints are awesome IMO if you use them as they were designed...just rolling your finger slightly from
the trigger. Oh well just my opinion. As for the graphical leap...I saw big leap from 360 bf4 to x1 I was impressed. Also while dr3 isn't a huge leap graphically(but still looks better than it would on 360) the amount of zombies on screen is crazy.

 

I have to agree about the controller being better as well. At first I wasn't really a fan but the more I've used it the better it feels. I went back to 360 controller the other day and it honestly felt like a toy. Like a tonka truck. To me it's like the
difference between a ford to a Ferrari. Both are nice, but one is a lot more sleek than the other. Personal opinion of course.

 

IMHO opinion the controller feels weird but is overall better than 360s. It is smaller and feels like it fits perfectly in my hands. It did take some time getting use to having an internal battery pack. One thing that I will disagree with the OP on is the
social aspect. While I do not care for the streaming of games and social aspects, this is the day and age we live in. I dont need themand probably will use those features a very small anount, but there are others who live for those. Look at the outrage at
no twitch streaming. Some people are "gutted" lol. Anyway good review.

 

Another thing to consider is the leap from the OG Xbox to the 360 was much bigger. And now after many years and updates the 360 is an awesome console. The transition from the 360 to the One is more similar with a few changes and some minor setbacks. After
a couple years and a couple updates the one will be fine tuned and the new games will blow us away and we will laugh about the past......

 

I think gaming in general is dying. I bought 780 ti instead of xbox one , which is basically xbox one but 100 times better Hopefully Titanfall can support 4k resolution , I'll be on that *** all day. Back to topic, me too feel the same way OP, I havent
been gaming much. I have the time but I dont feel like spending it on games like I used. Games arent attracting me much these days (been 3- 4 months like this now). Only game I played and enjoyed was last of us.

wish they would re-release The Duke, best controller i ever touched... and great for home security.

 

Digital hero, I don't think gaming is dying at all. Sounds to me like your going through what I go through at least once every few months. Sometimes I just don't feel like gaming at all. I definitely wouldn't say it's dying though. There is plenty out there
at the moment. And with the release of two new consoles and the huge amount of game that are soon to hit, I certainly wouldn't say it's dying.

Yet what he describes he wants in the original post is a ps4 lol (a games machine not media focused with next gen graphics)

I agree ghostz. Hanging to have dolby through optical so I can finally hook up turtle beach headset. I can now but their not the same in stereo.
