My old gamertag doesn't link to my microsoft account, is there a way to do this?

Hello David, the Gamertag is linked to a Microsoft account, if you are logging into the Xbox and another Gamertag appears, it is because it is another account.

To recover the account that has this Gamertag you have to use the form below, however it is not possible to recover it only with the Gamertag, you need to know your email account.

I am unable to access my old Microsoft account. However when I do a search of Xbox Gamertag's my account is still live. Is there a way to link my old gamertag to a new account?

Whats the reason you cant access the old Microsoft account? Don't remember the password or what email you used?

Sorry to say but any type of content transfer between Microsoft accounts is not possible.

If you want to put the old gamertag on a new account you may need to change the gamertag in the old account and then change it on the new account

**But doing this doesn't guarantee that the gamertag is going to be available, in some cases the servers doesn't show the gamertag as available immediately

Which gamertag is linked to your Microsoft account? The new one or the old one? My guess would be that your old account is still linked to your Microsoft account and you are trying to use the new gamertag but the old one is interfering. Check this link out
