My new Xbox series s won't update

First of all brand new Xbox series s... When I go to turn it on it spins then says time too update I'm like ok and then it says checking for updates which makes completely no sense cause it just said time to update to get to the point it says error code 0x80072F8F

This is more than likely the power brick has failed. Same thing happened to my x360 and the reason I updated to Xbox one X. Time to update to a new console I suggest.

Either the next gen Series S/X models or XBox one S/X.

You won't look back, but will wonder why you didn't update earlier.

I won't sell it then if it's bannable. I got a new series s and if I sign in with that account, will the games appear on my new Xbox?

I am sorry your experiencing issues today and I hope I can resolve it.

Please could you give this a try.

1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

2. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

3. Press and hold the BIND (controller sync button located on the left side of the console or bottom right if a one S or one X) and the EJECT button and then just press the Xbox button on the console once.

4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.

5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Start-up Troubleshooter.

7. To reset your console from the Xbox Start-up Troubleshooter, use the D-pad and A button on your controller to select Reset this Xbox.

9. When prompted, select Keep games and apps. This option will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.

The only place I find mention of that error code it is in a security authentication error on windows, which certainly could be the root of this problem, you need to open up a ticket at support.xbox.com so that people can take a look at what’s happening on the server side

Hi there. I own an Xbox X series and an Xbox S series. The s series for about a week has had the new update but my X still is the old dashboard. How can I have 2 Xboxs in the same household with different updates going on. If an update is being launched it should be sent out to everyone at the exact same time globally. This doesn't even make sense.
