    My NAT is open but apparently I'm restricted?


    After a conversation with xbox support it seems that I'm being restricted as I cant use party or game chat. My NAT type is Open but it is also behind a cone NAT which xbox has told me which is what is preventing me from talking to friends in a party.

    I have phoned my internet provider which reassures me that they dont restrict anything as I asked about port forwarding, and nothing they can do.

    Anyone have any ideas how the resolved this? I can hear them but they cant hear me. We also have a playstation downstairs with no problems at all, but my son plays on the xbox.

    After reading these two guides, I have managed to solve my NAT issues with our two consoles

    Both static IP's and one on DMZ. The other console is set up for port forwarding (Done on the router)

    The NAT and port forwarding would be based on configurations on your local router/modem, and not necessarily the ISP. This Windows Central article has some

    more details and is a good guide for getting an Open Nat with port forwarding.     And

    this page has the official documentation on ports for Xbox Live.

    If you have more specific questions about enabling port forwarding for the right ports, let us know the setup and make/model of your modem/router and we'll be happy to help take a look at what the steps are to set it.

    I also am having this problem. Says my nat is open, I went through this already and did the port forward in it worked for about a day. Now when I search for a game my nat is open still but I still cannot find a match because apparently, "my opponents nat
    may be restrictive or moderate"
