My microsoft privacy settings won’t apply (family profile), how do I fix this?

Glad the settings work for Bedrock - if you were able to redownload Minecraft as well and Java won't still allow you to access multiplayer, then you may need to wait for it to sync in-game or try resetting and repairing the apps. Here's how:

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps >Look for the Microsoft Store app > Click on Advanced options > Click Reset then Repair > Look for Xbox app and Minecraft launcher and follow same steps > Wait until it finishes> Restart your PC.

Sorry to hear about that, however, kindly ask your dad if these settings are all enabled:

Under Xbox and Windows 10 devices Online safety, ensure that "You can play with people outside of Xbox Live", "You can create and join clubs", "You can add friends" and "You can join multiplayer games" are set to Allow. Scroll down and click submit.

Under Privacy, "You can see and upload community creations" set it to Everyone and these are optional: "You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text" Allow and "Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites" Everyone. Scroll down and click Submit.

If they are, if you're on console:

You can try re-syncing your account into the console. Ensure that you know your Microsoft account and password before doing so and your console is connected to the internet.

-Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

-Profile & System > Settings > Account > Remove account

-Select the account that you want to remove, and then select "Remove" to confirm.

-Once done, select Close.

Then, you can restart your console > long-press Xbox button on the controller > Restart

Lastly, sign in to your account again by:

-Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

-Go to Sign in > Add new

If you're on PC, try signing out and signing in again on the Xbox app, Microsoft Store app and Minecraft launcher.

If you're on console, ensure that you have core subscription to play online.

we’ve enabled all of the settings but still can’t play multiplayer. I’m on pc and have tried signing in and out several times, also deleting and redownloading Minecraft to no success. However, multiplayer does work on bedrock, just not on Java. I’ve heard from people that it can take a few hours for the settings to apply so I’m just hoping that’s the case. Thanks a lot though!

This sounds like the old problem of profile privacy settings again.

I would make sure that all the accounts are added to Microsoft Family:

https://account.microsoft.com/family/

Then go to to the Xbox privacy settings and change your daughters profiles:

https://account.xbox.com/Settings

My answer in this thread with the same question may help. I’ve gone through all the steps in detail to adjust privacy settings for both adult and child accounts, and have explained the redirect loop between the privacy settings and support page, as well as how to resolve the error.

It’s not because there’s an error with the website or a problem with your account. Child accounts don’t have the option to manage privacy settings/online preferences and restrictions.

Simply put, if you’re on a child account (under 18 in most countries) or in a family as a child, then you won’t be able to access the privacy settings page. An adult from the same Microsoft family would need to adjust your privacy settings in family settings for you. If you’re on a child account but not in a family, then you’ll need to join one to be able to do this.
