    I understand that headsets can also work as microphones but this just happened out of nowhere. I recently logged onto my xbox and was at first scared that my mic didnt work until I started talking louder and realised it started working. I wondered if I had
    to put the mic closer. I did and that didnt work. I then was worried so I put my mic right next to my face and talked, nothing. I put my headset down and was talking to my brother about this mess. The mic started picking up my voice again. I put my face close
    again, nothing again. I stepped backed and talked, it worked... I was baffled. I looked around and figured out that headsets work as microphones. I put my face close and there we go. It worked. But I cant use it for talking and listening if one of my earmuffs
    has to be off my head which makes it very uncomfortable. Anyone understand what went wrong? Any easy setting change to fix this?

    Updated console - broke everything

    I should also mention that my mic on the stereo headset also does not work anymore.

    Stereo headset randomly stopped working

    I have the same issue.

    I have a headset adapter and a pair of music headphones w in-line mic that I've used for months and the mic no longer works w the xbox one. Still works w phone, so it didn't break.

    The headset adapter works w my 360 headset and the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, so it's not the controller. All firmware is up to date. There was a console update, and the mic hasn't worked for party chat since then.

    Can't figure out why it stopped working.

    Only one that will work is my headset mic but I prefer to use a usb mic.

    Xbox One Stereo Headset via Windows 10 app

    I am having the same issue. With my headset I can hear game audio, if I'm in a party chat I can hear my friends talking but the mic doesn't work. My mic does work outside of the xbox app perfectly. The headphones and mic are set to default in the playback
    devices. It's an issue with the app and it needs to be updated.
