    Other day when i was reading news i suddenly heard loud boom or explosion like sound. First i didn't find a source but later i noticed smell of burning. It was my xbox series x that caused it. I took it right away from the power cable. Xbox wasn't hot, didn't smoke or anything, but i decided to wait to see is it safe. Later i tried to plug the power cable back and turn xbox on, but no, it's broken now.

    Weird thing is that last time when my xbox was turned on was 1 day ago. So it hasn't been under stress or over heated etc. I don't know what could have happened if i weren't home. Could it have been cause a fire?

    I tried to contact to xbox support that my device is broken and ask is it safe. They answered that my Xbox warranty has ended 5 months ago, so they won't repair it without a fee.

    I have always owned differend xbox consoles, but none of them have been so short aged like this xbox series x. Is it really normal that under 3 years old device gets broken by itself without use. Or did i just get poorly made piece which was going to get broken at some point anyway.

    I just experienced a similar situation. Mine just exploded while it was off. The console is just over a year old.

    Capacitors can age badly. I had CRT monitors erupt in flames. When they blow electronics don't work. You'll have to send it in for repair.

    Sounds like a surge happenrd

    Electronicd don't suddenly pop except during lightning storms.or unseen surge which would.be a bad power source or a brown out or a sudden surge of power

    This is usually coveted by your home owners insurance

    Very dissapointing. My older xbox consoles are still running smoothly. Seems like these new consoles won't last for next gen like previous did 🙄

    Both xboxes are clean.. but it still crashes.. in fact while sitting herd answering you I have the Game on.. but not doing anything with co

    ntroller and it crashes..
