My Kinect will not turn on what so ever, is it broken?

Okay so about a week and a half ago my kinect just randomly stopped working. I tried hard resetting my xbox one, unplugging it, and the basic troubleshooting for this problem and it's still won't turn on. When I go into the kinect setting on the console
it doesn't even recognize that it's plugged in. So my question is, is it actually broken? I've known a couple people who've had the same problem but had it randomly turn back on a couple days later, but mine has been off for almost two weeks now. I've talk
to a couple agents about it over the phone about this as well and they seem to think it's just broken. However I find this very strange considering that its a day one xbox that I've NEVER had issues with before concerning the kinect. I haven't damaged it or
even dropped it so I don't understand why it would just stop working.

One agent happened to mention that they advise plugging the xbox one into the wall rather that a surge protect because it can cause issues. I've had my xbox plugged into a surge protector since the day I got it because no one told me otherwise and I didn't
see any kind of warning about that. So, another question is, is it possible that having it plugged into a surge protector may have damaged it or even overloaded it? I know on another thread I saw someone mention that the xbox it's self can be overloaded like
that causing it to turn off and not turn back on for a while, which I've also had happen but what about the kinect? My next question is, if it is a possibility that it damaged my kinect, should't they have some kind of warning in print somewhere that tells
you that? Because like I said I've had my xbox one for almost two years and have never heard anything about plugging it into a surge protector and causing issues until now. If it did damage it, isn't it illegal to not have some kind of warning about that?
I don't want to jump to anything but if that is what happened, isn't that worthy of causing a lawsuit?

I'm not trying to cause trouble I'm just really frustrated and trying to make sure my kinect is actually broken before I go and spend $100 on a new one ( and yes I know you can exchange it for a refurbished version but that's still $89 so I'd rather just
get it brand new). Plus the fact that I've never abused my kinect and it just randomly stopped working is aggravating as well.

So altogether,

• Is my kinect actually broken? If not, how do I fix it?
• If it is broken, is it possible that being plugged into a surge protector all this time could have caused this issue?
  
• And finally, if it is possible to damage it that way to the point where it stops working, isn't it illegal to not have some kind of warning IN FINE PRINT (not over the phone, chat, etc.)?

kinect infrared turns off when ever i start a game

Hi guys .

my kinect sensor turns off infrared when ever i start a new game. even though the kinect remains on.

i think this is what would be disabling my chat/game audio balance on my chatpad.

any ideas what i can do ?

You're impressions of Kinect 2?

my one is not great with voice commands, it hardly ever turns on or off when asked too despite doing the Kinect calibration a few times now.

 

Also, the first "agent" I talked to on the phone told me that because I'm in the preview program, all I would have to do is pay shipping and handling to get a brand new one (which I already found hard to believe). Then the next two agents I talked to told
me they had no idea what the other agent was talking about (which I figured), and that they had never heard of anything like that. I believe the last two agents and didn't really believe the first one, but that's misrepresentation, which I'm pretty sure is
also illegal, isn't it?
