My invites to party and game are not working but my message will get through

I can't send party invites and messages to my xbox friends through my xbox 360. Will the invites for both games and party shutting down this week?

It's doing the same to me right now, can't message, party invite freezes my xbox and takes several moments to go through then i can't invite people, not getting notifications of people getting online, it's just a complete mess, it's almost like they are
too busy working on this Beta and it's messing up the XBL in the process.

Thought this update would fix the perplexingly convoluted process of inviting friends to games and joining parties. Now I don't even have the opportunity to weave my way through that because, as of this update, the whole process is straight up broken. Inviting
a friend to your party doesn't work. Inviting them directly to the game doesn't work. I can't even get a party chat going to voice my frustration with the friends I'm trying to invite. At least I could do that before this update. Next gen should be an evolution,
not a devolution.

I am still having intermittent problems with this issue.

For Xbox parties: If I start a party, invitations never go through. However, friends can join if they find my party and join from their end.

For messaging: I can send/receive messages through the Xbox phone app, but not the console. Which is absolutely useless if you think about it. [Thank you MS but my phone has a message app already.]

For games: I've been trying to play MW3 Spec Ops. Invitations using the Xbox console don't work - ever. I have had some success with the in-game invitation, but not with any consistency. When starting a Spec Ops session, friends can never join through the in-game option [Y to show friends >>> Join Game]. The same error message shows, 'Game is full or not joinable'. When the initial invitations don't go through, I will try leaving the 'lobby' and initiating a new Spec Ops session, sometimes that seems to work. Other times I exit and restart MW3 and that sometimes works. Obviously with the lack of consistency I cannot say if my actions are causally related to the invitations going through or strictly coincidental.

Like many people, I have been waiting for widespread availability of the Xbox X. A big selling point for me is the backwards compatibility for legacy 360 games. With the lack of attention to support issues like this I am reconsidering and think about going with Sony. Just saying.
