My home xbox

Ok so this is a quick question. Sorry if it's in wrong category. When you first buy a xbox one and sign in does it automatically make your xbox one the home xbox? I'm asking because it says you can only change this 3 times in a year. I switched it to a cousins
xbox and then accidentally switched it back to mine. So will I be able to switch it back again or do I have to wait a year.

Usually your homeconsole is set automatically the first time you log into a xbox one.

If you try to switch it more than three times within a year it will give you an error on that, saying that you exceeded the three times. So counting what you've donwe so far there should be one possibility to switch be left, as the first initial setting
should not count.

 

What if someone already exceeded the 3 times and can't assign the new xbox just bought or got replaced as homeconsole? Would he need to get rid of the limit by contacting the official support?

You can definitely get in touch with our chat or phone support agents for this, but normally once you hit three changes in one year, you will need to wait a full year to have those reset.
