My headset is not working, headset muted?

I've been looking online for a fix to it all day, my microphone (Turtle Beach xo seven) works fine, I've tried to plug it into my phone and I can hear audio and use the microphone just fine. When I plug it into my controller however at the top right of my
screen on the xbox dashboard on my console a muted microphone icon won't go away and I can't hear anything out of my headset nor can I talk out of it. My chat and privacy settings are set to adult, my controller is completely up to date, I've synced my controller
multiple times, completely restarted my console multiple times and even changed my controllers batteries with brand new double A's and nothing is seeming to work. I don't have a communication ban, either.

Headset not working

my son has two headsets - one is a turtle beach headset and the other is a spades headset - neither is working. He is not hearing any sound at all - we have tried everything to try and get them working - but no success.

Anyone able to help.

 

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

I have exactly the same issue with Turtle Beach Recon 50x. I’ve tried the above and it has not worked. The volume button in the controller settings is grayed out too. I checked the headphones in my phone with a voice call and it works fine. I have the same
issue with both controllers too. Any ideas? Thanks

 

I had an extensive hour + live chat with Microsoft support, where we attempted to fix the issue using several different methods. Sadly however none of them seemed to resolve the issue. The employee I spoke with told me it was a known bug that has been affecting
people since the last Xbox One update, and that a fix should be coming for the issue with the next update. He also told me to report the issue through your console, so that the developers can know that your account is being affected so that they can be sure
to fix it for you. I'm just going to have to wait for the issue to be hopefully resolved with the next patch, as frustrating as it is not being able to use the communication feature on my console, the main reason I got an Xbox in the first place.

I’m working away from home at the moment so have been trying everything on the phone to my wife. We have tried 2 controllers and a new headset, we also borrowed a working controller from a friend and still had the same issue. Did wonder if the update caused
the issue as it was working fine.

I’ll get the fault reported, but looks like you have saved me an hour plus call- nice work

 

Bump, I'm still having this issue to this day with no fix.
