my headset doesnt send any audio from my xbox

So, I had played games before I went to work and the headset was fine, after I came home, turned on the xbox and controller all I got was a loud screeching, so I updated the firmware on the controller and it stopped.

The problem is that I can't hear anything from the xbox anymore.

I've used other headsets of varied qualities that I've collected over the past couple years, and they work fine on the same controller, the headset works on all my other devices except my xbox one s, this makes me feel as if the last firmware update for
the controller has ruined my headset.

Also to note, both controller and headset were bought together nearly 2 months ago, the controller is a standard white xbox one controller with a 3.5mm audio port, and the headset in question is the turtle beach ear force recon 50x wired gaming headset.

If anyone could help me in solving my problem I would be delighted.

This happened to me a while ago the problem i had was the mic jack in the controller was so i to buy a new this be you're problem.

Sorry to hear it. Please try powercycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down to see if that helps. If it does not then try a factory reset choosing the option to keep your installed games and apps.

Just got the same issue today, i have tried 2 controllers and 2 headsets, all combos play audio but dont send audio to my friends, the ring in party chart doesnt move when i talk

Oke but that doesnt answer my question.
Will the audio quality and latency be the same when using a wired headset (console) usb or 3.5mm?

9/10 going direct into any hardware seems better for audio quality and latency. When going 3.5mm into the controller the xbox has to send sound into the controller and then transfer it to the headphones. That made me wonder if there is a difference between the 3.5mm connect or usb at the back? Maybe it is not notable at all.

Are any of you able to get audio from it? I plugged my Xbox One stereo headset into my controller but no audio and no way to routing audio to it, is there supposed to be software to control it?
