My headset cuts out and only works with one controller

I had to buy a new headset a few months ago it worked fine for a while but only on one controller but audio cuts out on it every time I use it. I went to the store and even they didn't know what to do.

Anybody know how to fix this?

My Xbox controller won't work with my headset

I just went out and purchased a new headset, and I came home and tested it and all 4 of my headsets don't work with the one controller I bought but they work with my brothers controller. My controller is only around 2 months old and I need either a way
to fix this or refund.

 

Issue with Party Chat cutting on headset

Issue:

While playing Battlefield One sometimes chat stops working on my headset. I can still hear sound but no chat. If I pull out the headset I can hear the chat on my Kinnect. Plug back the headset and I hear the sound but no chat. This happens with multiple
controllers and headsets.

I have had this problem with the following configurations:

XBOX One Original Controller with Microsoft Chat Headset

New Xbox Controller with Kingston HyperX Cloud X head set

New Xbox Controller with Kingston HyperX Cloud X head set

The chat works fine 85% of the time but when it cuts out I don't realize it for a while because I can still hear sound.

Pulling out the headset and plugging back in works very rarely but sometimes, but the chat usually cuts out again.

I figured it might be a network issue, perhaps latency but I recently hardwired the xbox and I still have the issue. I bought a new headset because I thought the XBOX Chat Headset was broken. I bought a new controller because i needed the 3.5 jack and
didn't want to buy an adapter for a 3rd of the price of a new controller.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Joe,

When it comes to headset troubleshooting there are a number of things to try to narrow down the issue to the headset or the controller. Does your headset connecting using an audio jack or through a headset adapter?

With the introduction of the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the Xbox controllers, you are able to virtually connect mostly any headset but some may not be compatible due to the

audio jack standards.

If the headset cuts out periodically then it may be due to the audio jack not being the right standard or the audio jack port in the controller is not functioning properly.

To troubleshoot your Xbox I recommend to
power cycle the unit.

 

yeah I see where your coming from it might be that the jack is getting worn out becuase I use that one controller so much

Hey Joe,

It could either be the audio jack on the headset cable, or the audio jack port in the controller.

If you can possibly try out other headsets or headphones, like ear buds, it will narrow down the issue to your controller or the audio jack on the cable.

I'm not sure what you mean by your second question. Are you asking how long the cables are or how long they last on turtle beach headsets?
